The southernmost of the Premiers Crus
The original Premier Cru of the left bank. A distinctive personality with stony, stone fruit, and apple notes. Its name suggests “the mound” on which the vineyard is located, namely the upper part of a hill, which perfectly describes the situation of this Climat.
An insider’s wine, lively and precise with excellent aging potential.
The Vineyard
A single-block plot extending over the upper part of the hillside. Les Butteaux is a lieu-dit of “Montmains“. Facing west, the vines receive generous sunshine without excessive heat. The subsoils are predominantly clay-limestone with a predominance of Kimmeridgian, offering remarkable minerality to the wine.
