Laroche Masterclass: A Journey to the Heart of Chablis
Beyond the competition, this weekend was dedicated to education and exchange. Domaine Laroche had the privilege of hosting an exclusive masterclass, orchestrated by Jean-Baptiste Mouton, General Manager of Laroche and Maison Champy.
“A Journey from West to East in Chablis”
The objective of this presentation? To demonstrate that Chablis is not a monolithic block, but a complex mosaic of terroirs. Through a horizontal tasting, participants were able to explore the geological and climatic diversity that makes the appellation renowned.
The sensory journey highlighted five distinct climats, structured around four Premiers Crus and one Grand Cru:
- Left Bank: Discovery of chiseled minerality with crus such as Vaudevey.
- Right Bank: Exploration of richness and breadth up to Blanchots Grand Cru.
The Domaine’s Expertise: This comparative approach helps understand how exposure, the Kimmeridgian soil, and the microclimate influence the aromatic profile of Chardonnay, transitioning from vibrant tension to controlled opulence.
